Our Journey as Makers:

From Art Shows to Online Only

For over thirty years, we’ve been vendors at art shows, maker’s faires, and community events across the Pacific Northwest. These shows taught us to talk about our work, met incredible makers, and watched people fall in love with Chainmaille. Being a vendor was fun, rewarding, and full of human connection.

However, the landscape of handmade art has changed. Many shows have shifted toward 3D-produced items and reprints or imported goods, making it harder to find events with truly handmade artists and compete in environments where price matters more than craftsmanship.

We’re proud of our decades of showing up in person, sharing our process, and building a community around wearable art. But as the art world has evolved, so has our business. We’ve shifted from vending to selling online, where we can present our work, tell the stories behind each piece, and connect with people who value handcrafted art

This shift isn’t about stepping back; it’s about stepping forward into a space where our work can shine without compromising our integrity. The Velvet Zebra continues, just in a new form: one that honors the craft, the time, and the artistry that Chainmaille deserves.
