I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving – even you, Cath, you crazy foriegner you! 😀  It was a day to look back at our lives and give thanks for all the things we cherish, all the things that make our lives what they are.  It’s also a time to cherish the people in our lives – our families and friends. Even our pets, and the security of our homes and dreaded day jobs!

I’m thankful for a plethora of things that a lot of people don’t even understand, except all of you will.  I’m Thankful for having found AW – even if it gives me fits and I have to run from it screaming now and again 😀  I’m Thankful for all the wonderful friends I’ve made there, and for the courage and information I discovered that has propelled me to finally take my own writing seriously.  I’m Thankful for having learned what is real about publishing, and for having never found the underbelly (PA) before learning the truth first.

<>I’m thankful for The Great Tea Debacle and what is coming from it – what it has done for my discipline and the production of novels I fully intend to take advantage of thanks to it.  And for another tidbit you all will learn of come December :D<>

<>I’ve never written so religeously before. Never taken WRITE DAILY that seriously until now.  And I had completely forgotten about my Happy Place. Where I can sit for hours and watch the words flow from me with gleeful writerly abandon.  I have The Great Tea Debacle to thank for that. I have Pete and Lori to thank for that.

And I’m a Happpy Writer who’s ever so very Thankful for it all.  And that’s as mushy as I’ll get, because I have to go WRITE!

    Now now, Blogger will be fine if you want to use it instead – it’s just that here at home, I don’t use IE so Blogger won’t let me post without fussing. And you can pick either one you like, and I’ll fix it up purdy for ya! Booger or WordPress 😀

    Blogger seems to work fine with Firefox on my boxen.

    The one annoying thing about WordPress … well, there are multiple annoying things, but then that’s software for you, blogging in particular … is that comments have a) no preview and b) no delete privs for the commenter.

    I like the Javascript gradual download thing for the Blogger archive side-widget. I have become less enamored of the calendar view as being sensible where browsing archives are concerned.

    So, still a Bloggerite over here. WordPress annoys me too much still, after all these years.

    Blogger’s okay, but there are too many features on WordPress that I can make use of. The ability to create pages seperate from the blog, for example. And I like the templates a great deal more.

    That said, WordPress has annoying tendencies when it comes to HTML.

    THAT said, at the end of the day, who cares? 🙂 It’s just software.

    Okay. I’ll try Booger to start with in December. As long as it lets me blog with a cat hanging over my shoulder, it’ll work for me. Y’all are mostly speakin’ a furin language to me. I am such a trog in matters of technology.

    Yes, lack of templates for Beta Blogger makes me full of sad. I’m not missing the separate pages thing too much, since they seem to, more or less, be posts. A perma-link page on Blogger provides the same functionality, although you’d have to add the link yourself on the side, whereas WordPress creates the link itself.

    We care about software because we care about paint colors. 🙂

    An’ my house is a lovely shade of beige, thank you very much. Beige gets a bad rap. I do just fine with beige.

    I’m content to wander into blogging happily naive of the technology behind it. I drive my car without fully understanding it. I just turn the key and press the gas.

    I can however embrace technology. Ask me how much I love my TIVO.

    But my great fear in blogging is that I just wont be able to think of interesting things to say. It’s my own personal fear, that I’m really just a beige kinda gal and beige doesn’t cut it in the neon technicolor edgy modern society.

    Go poke around MySpace blogs for five minutes. All your fear of being uninteresting will be gone. As long as you’re blogging about something better than how much your dad hates you and why Good Charlotte is the greatest thing in history, then you’re doing fine. 🙂

    I started a thread on AW about WordPress vs. Blogger, just trying to get people’s different impressions and thoughts on both. For right now, I think I’ll stay with Blogger, because I’m lazy and don’t want to learn new controls — although Pete and Kristine are going to make me learn them anyway. What I like about WordPress is, if you write something early and save the post with a date and time stamp, it will publish it automatically when that date and time arrives. I also like the multi-page feature.

    A couple of people have suggested some things to me for The Commune that I would like to follow through on, but it looks like I’m going to have to create a webpage to make them happen.

    Nice templates and timestamp feature and stuff aside, the ultimate reason I went with WordPress was, I intended to start blogging nearly every day, and I didn’t like how THIN blogger was. I spent a lot of time messing with the template and mostly broke it a lot.

    WordPress gave me wider margins. I liked the wordpress actual WRITING area less than blogger, but it worked for me.

    *shrug* It’s probably like debating Star Wars vs. Star Trek; the only right answer is “Babylon 5”

    That was another huge plus for me. I hated how thin the blogger posts were, making a relatively short post look huge – which kept me from wanting to post a long one, for fear readers would look at that and think “Too many words” then wander off.

    WordPress’s templates can be frustrating, but I finally found one I can live with. My black cat is dramatic, the posts are wider than Blogger, and I can (learn how to) trunicate a long post, so that when I start putting up huge posts, there’s that Read More feature, for the people who haven’t dozed off.

    back to reality moment–TGTD has really kicked my desire to write into overdrive. I have another half-written project that has started hounding me to write it. I’m going to finish Second Sight and then have another month of NaNo to finish it. Maybe I’ll NaNo again in Feb or something.

    Mark Twain agrees with me–‘specially when we’re talking about _excess_. I would take him anytime. And I mean that in any way.

    And anyways, dropping the ‘g’ is discernible–and I did say that I didn’t mind the g drops, any more than I mind contractions (and in a way, it is a sort of contraction; just as I don’t mind the ‘n drops in Japanese due to the way ‘no’ ends sentences).

    I don’t mind the thinness of Blogger, because it’s easier to read thinner columns than wide expanses of text–especially online.

    Congrats on the move! Hopefully the new digs will give you incentive to ever more creativity. How is the writing coming? fingers cramped yet? I cannot imagine what my penmanship woudl look like after even fifteen minutes of writing, no matter how fancy the pen. I salute and applaud you!
